In search of Rosebud

Well, sort of.

Day 2 of road trip and due to having no reception for pretty much the whole way, haven't been posting photos to Facebook like normal.

First thing was a nice wander round San Luis Obispo, then headed out on the 1 towards San Simeon. Stopped along the way to admire some coast wildlife.

Main stop of the day was Hearst Castle... Beloved fairy tale castle of William Randolph Hearst. Subtle doesn't cut it here, everything is on 11 but was super impressive nevertheless. Money doesn't buy you taste but it sure does buy you big bizarre things.

Then back on the 1 around 4pm and headed up to Monterey. Stopped loads along the way at various viewpoints. Highlight was the elephant seals... What amazing gigantic creatures.

Drove through the Big Sur which was entirely covered in fog. Hmmmm...

Into Monterey around 7.30pm and we went out for a meal which we actually managed to finish... Wow.
