Common Spotted Orchid (Dactylorchis fuchsii)

I think this is a common Spotted Orchid but if any one knows better please tell me, British Orchids are not one of my strong points.

I almost titled this "When is a weed not a weed?" This beauty is growing about 6 feet in front of FredaH's front door. It certainly isn't a plant which has been put there deliberately so some might consider it a weed, on the grounds that "a plant growing where it isn't wanted is a weed". This however is very much wanted!

We have been watching its progress since we first spotted it (no pun intended) last year. When I was across cutting the grass I was missing a blip so I decided it was the turn of the Orchid.

I apologise for my lack of commenting, those of you who follow clickychick will realise that currently life is a bit confused and busy.
