Rosa Mundi

During the summer holidays I used to spend a week with my sisters at my Auntie Jeanne's house in Bath. My aunt had a rosa mundi in her garden and I loved it so much that I have always liked to have one in my own garden. The legend is that it is named after 'Fair Rosamund' , Rose of the World, who was the mistress of King Henry 2nd. Rosalind was poisoned by the King's wife Princess Eleanor who was (not unreasonably) jealous. The rosa mundi flowers were placed on her grave on the anniversary of her death.
