The Squirrelly Show
I never know what I'll see next when I look out the deck door windows. Sometimes there are birds cavorting. Occasionally, there will be a deer (or several) moving quietly through the trees. Often, there are chipmunks running about, teasing the cat. And once in a while: a squirrel!
This particular squirrel apparently felt very, very dirty, and so it stopped on the deck railing to take a bath. As we watched, it preened its tail, tummy, thighs, and wrists. Yes, squirrels have wrists, and this one had some very dirty ones by the looks of things. (Don't you just hate it when that happens?)
The bathing was languid, the antics those of a contortionist. You might have sworn we were attending a girlie . . . ahem . . . squirrelly show, with the squirrel performing crazy, crowd-pleasing maneuvers. All in the name of cleanliness, you know. Yes, of course!
Strike a pose!
