Sanvey Gate Transformer under demolition
Received reports via Twitter that this 1930's electricity substation had exploded overnight due to an equipment fault. By first light it was clear the building was severely damaged and, sadly, quickly deemed beyond repair. Here it is at around midday almost completely gone.
A fine piece of city industrial heritage, that signified and indeed facilitated Leicester's between the wars expansion.
