Read all about @AbsentVoices!

A wee sensation - or even a wee 'tate' - of what's been happening in the name of Absent Voices of late...

This picture shows Anne Mckay's Drawing Workshop at RIG Arts, an Inverclyde-based arts, film and media initiative with charitable status.

Annie says: "We concentrated on the face, using charcoal. Portraits produced all showed the confidence the students are gaining through experimentation and drawing practice.

"I was delighted to hear from the students that they feel inspired by the demonstrations given.

"I am extremely inspired, too, by their enthusiasm and mark-making."

In other news, artist Rod Miller, will be hosting another drawing class under the Absent Voices banner at Greenock Art Club this Saturday, July 5th.

More here.

Rod says: "The free classes are very informal and are open to anyone of any skill level who is interested in drawing, the history of the local sugar industry, or just getting out the house for a while and doing something different.

"All materials and refreshments will be supplied free of charge, so you need only bring your enthusiasm and sense of fun with you!"

And finally...

Alastair Cook is a busy man! If he's not organising Filmpoem events in Antwerp or the South Bank in London, he's in Helmsdale, Portobello, Dunbar and other poetically-charged locations!

Alastair going to be in Greenock working as part of his work for Absent Voices in the next few months. He has set up a Blip journal called Absent Voices to track his progress..

Please subscribe, as he is sure to serve up thought-provoking imagery and accompanying text.
