Lesser Heron

This fellow seems to be a permanent residence in this little lagoon in Spring Lake. Apparently he thinks the acid green color suits him, because he often comes out to stand on this rock and pose for passersby this time of year. He was standing especially straight this morning clearly showing his red eye and just a hint of wedding plumage or a mullet…take your choice.

Today is our wedding anniversary and we decided to celebrate it by having bread and cheese, paté, smoked salmon, cucumber salad and a pleasant little rosé instead of going out. We're hoping it cools off enough to take it all outside for an al frescomeal. Neither of us wanted to cook or wash dishes!
