The S.S. Sørlandet

A pretty chilled out Sunday, because I got goodies at the farmer's market I didn't go to the Stockbridge Market for a change. I headed down to Ocean Terminal to pick up a couple things at Boots and then wandered around the front to see if there was anything interesting. I noticed there was a large sailing ship in the lock (Leith Docks is an enclosed harbour with a lock system between it and the tidal Forth) so I hung around and waited for it to pass through the lock.

It turns out it was the S.S. Sørlandet which (according to Wikipedia) is the oldest full rigged ship in the world still in operation! Originally built as a training ship in Norway and now used for “adventure sailings for young people of all ages”.
