'Rise' by Andy Scott

With 'The Kelpies' grabbing all the limelight these days I thought I'd revisit this Andy Scott sculpture that's right on my doorstep.

Rise is made of thousands of galvanised steel plates, her blade-like wings are provocative of the propellers of the great ships which were once constructed and launched here on the banks of the Clyde. She was officially launched in May 2008.

I played in Sloans today with The Zig Zag Big Band then rushed across town to catch the tail end of my Great Niece Alicia's second birthday party. Caught up with lots of friends and family.

I stopped by Rise for a few minutes on the way back home and grabbed a close up of the lady.
