Brompton Bee
Picnics packed and off to catch three trains (all delayed) to West Brompton station which happens to be right by a very large cemetery!
Brompton is one of the 'magnificent seven cemeteries', and the fifth one we've visited.
Promptly at 2 pm we joined in with four others on a tour. Its packed to the gills with burials. In its heyday it was doing up to forty a day, phew! We were led around by Robert who was full of information, although we did spot some holes in his knowledge of the films that have been shot there.
Probably the most famous grave belongs to Emmeline Pankhurst, though it isn't the most stunning of markers, its still pretty special. The place was absolutely covered with the most impressive wild sweet peas. Libby pointed out this buzzy chap who was taking full advantage of the flora. We were also followed by big black crows and bold squirrels!
Just after the end of the tour the rain came down so we retired to a coffee shop before catching three more delayed trains home.
Not everybody's favorite thing to do but we had a lovely time....
