Pea-eating blackbird!
We had planned a day out today - zoo or seaside. When the alarm went off this morning it didn't seem such a good idea, and it was raining. We were all tired so we decided just to have a lie in and a more local trip.
Of course by the time we had got up and argueddebated about where to go it was nearly lunch time. The choice was Cannon Hall near Barnsley - a place I loved as a child. The attraction for Lottie is the farm (which wasn't a visitor attraction back in the 1970s and 1980s. We had a walk, had a picnic and then went to said farm - it seems to have got very expensive since last time we were there. The cynic in me thinks that may be down to the new barns they have built, and the massive indoor play area and restaurant they are in the process of building. Adding to that Lottie getting older, not being able to get close to the animals any more and less variety I don't think we will be rushing back.
Anyway, that's just a grumpy old woman talking!! Lottie enjoyed it, especially the play area.
We had an ice cream on the way out and this cheeky little blackbird landed on the next table where there were left over fish, chips and mushy peas. He picked the fish up first, then came back for the peas!
Another weekend has gone too fast, another busy week in prospect - is it wrong to wish for next Friday??
