Well Dressing!

E and I went to the Methodist Church this morning where we discovered that Bakewell's Well Dressings were to be blessed that afternoon. We had a look after the service and this was certainly my favourite, having visited Lindisfarne a couple of summers ago.

Well Dressing's exact origins are unclear, but it is thought to have been introduced by the Romans or Celts, to give thanks for the Peak District's plentiful fresh water springs. Scores of communities work to create the stunning outdoor works of art using a range of natural materials. Well Dressings feature everything from biblical stories to special anniversaries
