Layering

The sweet peas have reached the top of their nine foot canes so each one has to be untied, lowered to the ground and re-positioned so that the head is about four foot off the ground on a new cane further along the row. The process starts with cutting off lots of the blooms which might otherwise get dirty or damaged.
