The Gatehouse

Known as The Gatehouse, this gorgeous little building is the Information Site for our town.
It was built by local builders a few years ago and recently added on to.
Matamata is often referred to as Hobbiton because it is home to the movie set of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit; both directed by NZ director Peter Jackson.
The Gatehouse is built in the style of The Green Dragon which is the beautiful tavern where people who visit the Middle Earth movie set can sample the local ale as well as delicious food.
