Its almost Ramadan!
So I didn't mean to once agin totally spy on my neighbors, but it did seem to end up that way. I like to people watch, don't get me wrong but I do usually feel kinda weird watching the adults in my neighborhood. Oh well
So I was trying to take a picture of the crescent moon light in my neighbors window, because there are Ramadan decorations everywhere. However, then my neighbors came out and stood there talking for a long time...so here we have it.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Muslims worldwide observe this as a month of fasting. This annual observance is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The month lasts 29–30 days based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon, which is suppose to occur tomorrow (Saturday), so then Ramadan officially starts the following morning.
Fasting from dawn until sunset is mandatory for adults and includes all food and drinks. Ramadan doesn't happen at the same time every year, so this year it is starting right in the middle of the horrible heatwave we're having here right now in Jordan. Rough!!! No water for like 16 hours all day even though it is about 95 F right now. Tomorrow will be even worse at 39 C/102 F. It was pretty awful!
The heatwave isn't suppose to break until Tuesday when it will finally drop to around 32 C/ 89 F....I never thought 89 F would make me so happy! I'm so excited! I haven't been sleeping too well cause of the heat, but I hate tom complain cause in comparison to the same kinda heat in Botswana, where I had no fan or ice or shower or ability to get anything but boiling hot water, I really can't complain. This is a big step up. I have a fan and cold water, so I'm set. I have a shower too which normally I can take cold showers in but my water has been spotty lately, and since I haven't had running water for like 24 hours already and I'm not sure why. Hoping that gets figured out soon.
