The Future is Bright

8,000 ton French high tech cable laying ship owned and operated by Orange Marine is currently working on the Clyde to provide improved broadband to Cumbrae and Bute.

Named after French philosopher Rene Descartes the ship is one of a fleet of 6 and boasts state of the art cable laying technology. Not only does it lay the cable but it also ploughs it into the seabed.
