Past master
A most unusual event in our small town today. An Orange March took over the whole place for much of the day. The sound of fifes and drums everywhere. The air charged with some fear, some threat, some derision.
The main theme seemed to be 'No surrender' to who or what I'm not entirely sure, 'though my lovable rogue of an uncle with the funny handshake was Master of the Orange Lodge in Bridgeton for some years.
There was a substantial police presence, many on bikes, foot and horseback. On the whole, good-natured 'though I'm not sure that I'd like to be out in a local pub tonight.
More pictures in my Blipfolio. I'm left feeling we are the strangest creatures under the sun.
