Early Mist, Leomonsley
Up early to go to Mom's house before a first viewing by potential buyers. Most of the poppies are starting to go over in our area but I did stop on the main road into Lichfield just to check on this field. The early hour worked in my favour, as well as the rain yesterday, which provided misty conditions first thing. I loved the softness of the scene but really wanted more height to make the most of the poppies.
A lovely young couple who know Mom's neighbour's arrived to view, along with their one year old daughter. Even before I have instructed an estate agent we were able to agree a price and I am hopeful that the sale will go through without a hitch.
It seems weird how emotional I found the situation and particularly when we agreed a price. I only lived in this house for a few short months in the late 1980s. I suppose it is the enormity of the situation that was getting to me. I visited Mom afterwards to give her the news and I think she has similar feelings. I wouldn't wish this situation on anybody though it seems that it will become ever more common as we live longer.
