Images of Jesus

LLG Tonight. We looked at different images of Jesus and talked about what he means to us. I like this sculpture in Romsey Abbey of the resurrected Christ. Without the resurrection then there is no hope. I wrote this creed the other day:

I believe in Jesus the Christ, the only Son of God who existed before creation and was present during creation.

I believe he was the son of Mary, conceived by the Holy Spirit - fully God and fully human.

I believe that he is the true identity of a human being and my example.

I believe he died on the cross for me, taking the suffering I should have borne for my sin. He suffered the separation from His Father in order to bring me to His Father.

Three days after his death he was raised to life - not just spiritually but bodily. He defeated death giving me the hope of eternal life.

I believe Christ's resurrection is the beginning of bringing heaven to earth meaning that everything I do in His name by the Spirit brings a glimpse of heaven on earth.

After appearing to many after His resurrection He returned to His Father where He reigns forever.

He will return bringing God's final new creation - Heaven on earth - where we too will be bodily resurrected to live with Him eternally.
