A time for everything

We had our usual full morning at church, followed by brunch out. Then this afternoon we were at another concert, this one at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral.
It was a free concert by members of the Cincinnati Symphony, under their conductor Paavo Jarvi, in honor of Archbishop Daniel Pilarczyk, who retired last month at the age of 75, celebrating his 50 years in the priesthood and 27 years as Archbishop. He was a great supporter of the Cincinnati Symphony and particularly fond of the music of J.S. Bach, so the program was largely Bach. Being free, and especially being a grey wet Sunday afternoon, it was extremely popular and they ended up having to turn people away.

On our way back home, we stopped so I could take a picture of this mural. The mural was created by New York artist Richard Haas, and was commissioned in 1983 by The Kroger Company to celebrate its centennial. It is painted in a trompe l'oeil style, meaning "to deceive the eye." The central figure is a marble statue of Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus, the Roman statesman the city was named after.
