Yes Ben it's me, we sailed together once, remember? Probably not, a lot of water under the hull since then.

Ben Ainslie doing what he does best, keeping his sponsors happy and helming yachts, in this case a 40 ft catamaran, all good practice for his America's Cup campaign that will start in earnest soon, although a date and venue have yet to be announced.

Before the sailing began I spent a little time in the Artillery Museum near the venue. Outside there was marshall music playing through loudspeakers, with soldiers marching and an ICBM (possibly once pointed at a town near you) that evoked a certain nostalgia for the Cold War. Inside there was a room dedicated to Mikhail Kalashnikov who was responsible for probably the most successful product design ever to come out of Russia - the AK47 assault rifle.

It was a fusty old museum but I like fusty old museums and this one reminded you of just how much the Russian people have suffered over their history. It's not a country you'd ever want to start with in a game of Risk - far too easy to invade.
