Qualified!

No sign of World Cup fever abating - and today the Brazilian team dispelled some of the country's doubts and worries and confirmed its place in the last 16.

We watched the match in a bar with friends, then went back for some chocolate cake on a terrace overooking Botafogo Bay and the Sugar Loaf in one direction and the Christ Statue in the other. What a perfect place to celebrate. We were all tired, so didn't stay long, intending to go straight home. However, when we dropped the young man in the wig off at the beginning of Copacabana and saw the immense crowd of revellers milling around, we had to take a closer look. It was an amazing scene, particularly around the FIFA Fan Fest area. Brazilians weren't the only ones partying - there were some very happy Mexicans as well, and lots of wonderful, huge Mexican hats.
