The work begins!

Today we started work on the building site! Well, more correctly, the demolition site, as we have to cut away a good part of this bank before we can start any construction. Lots of people from the church turned out to help us out, which was great and really nice to have more time to get to know them whilst working.

We get up at about 5.30am to start work at 6. We then work until about 9am when the sun gets hot and then rest until about 4pm when it becomes cool enough to work again. It's quite a weird structure to the day, and a little frustrating that as soon as we feel we are getting into the work, we stop. But we will get used to it, and it's nice to have time to get to know the family and spend time with them. I feel this is part of what we learnt in Bogotá, that mission is as much about the relationships and friendships you build as it is about the other work you do.
