A place in time

Kitchen at Chawton

Mr A and I took a day off today and after my blood test (I didn't faint or anything - just got a bit clammy!) we drove down to Chawton to visit Jane Austen's house.

In the kitchen we found this lovely chap - a distant nephew of Jane Austen (I forget how many "great" prefixes came with it). He was helping with the DIY lavender bags, by cutting out circles of calico.

A beautiful cottage indeed and worth a visit - nicely rounded off with a pub lunch in the hostelry opposite.
