How Green Is Your Valley

Well it's no really a valley but a cutting as I was heading round the Edinburgh Suburban Circle early this morning here with my empty train about 06:15am this morning I was stopped at Craiglochart Junction signal to allow this Tamper train to reverse back towards Slateford Yard after coming up from Haymarket West Junction he was stopped and awaiting his signal to cross over in front of me under the tunnel and Union Canal and go round to the left to Slateford so I grabbed a few shots of him as I waited at the red signal where the Tamper train is actually stopped is at the old platforms of Craiglochart Station which was situated in this deep cutting but not much is left of the old platforms now to anyone who doesn't know what a Tamper is it's a machine that has equipment to help it lift the rails slightly and with what looks like big spades that burrow into the ballast will pack the ballast under the rails so there are no voids under the track to make the trip a lot smoother I used to conduct some of the tamper drivers back in my freight days and when you stayed on the machine as they did there packing I got queesy so I would jump off and stand and watch rather than barf up urgghhhh glad I don't do these jobs anymore anyway after he got out my way I proceeded to Waverly for my 07:00hrs departure too York for an hour then a drive to Newcastle for an hour followed by my drive back to Edinburgh god it was along day as I'm on a 10 straight shifts spell as I did an overtime shift for them yesterday and won't be off until a week on thursday and there all long shifts so my eyes will be hanging out my head by the end of these ten days oh well that's life I suppose better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick as they say anyway I thought I would give this shot a wee bit of movement to it to make it more interesting in this deep and dingy cutting now then movie for the day is "The Long Green Line 2008 " Go BIG if you wish See Ya
