Dangerous footpaths...

... are everywhere in Harrogate it would seem.

As you can clearly see from the photos, the flat and newly resurfaced footpaths across the stray in Harrogate pose a serious hazard to anyone venturing onto them. (or do they?) So much so that they are going to have to be "closed" for 10 days!!!

As many of you will know the Tour de France is coming to town next week for 2 days, and the council is absolutely determined that nothing can or will go wrong. As a result, many of our roads will be shut for 18 hours or more (!) and normal daily life will not be allowed on health and safety or other grounds.

These ridiculous signs have appeared today all over the stray where festivities will take place.

I am pro cycling and looking forwards to Le Tour, but even I can see that the council is proving to be rather inept at getting the balance right.
