Had a meeting today about seismic retrofitting the house. One of those things that's kind of difficult to figure out if it's worth doing. There are obviously limits to what a building can withstand, new build or old, and if the earthquake is catastrophic is anyone or anything going to be left standing anyway? But in terms of earthquake insurance it's something we'd have to do. Also discussed a seismic shutoff valve for the gas line, I'd like to have one of those installed whether we do the other stuff or not.
