The abundance of a leek in flower

It is late as I have just returned home from the working group meeting at the council offices, but I am pleased that I have relinquished the chair's role. Yay. I will still be very involved but it is one less thing that I have to lead which feels good.

Before I went to the meeting I had just enough time to pop out to the garden with a camera while Helena kindly cooked a delicious roasted vegetable and halloumi cheese supper, which we managed to wash down with some tasty white wine from Chile.

I spotted this leek flower which I have allowed to bolt through laziness on my part rather than any greater plan. But I have watched their progress to flowering with delight. I have always liked the ways that the onion family produces flowers and they are rarely allowed to reach their full potential. I will keep at least one of them to watch the whole cycle.

I rather liked the sky in the background behind the sycamore at the end of the garden which you can see in the image. I'm a sucker for a few optical effects, as well as the rich colour of the various green leaves further down the garden.
