Kiftsgate
How many roses can you see? This rose has actually become what I dreamed of so many years ago when I first poked a few cuttings in the ground in the hope that they might take root and ramble up a tree.
That was an idea I saw in action on a visit to Sissinghurst Castle Garden in Kent, the home of Vita Sackville West.
And now I have got it! Well, not quite the whole castle, but the scent in the air this month takes some beating. There is not just one of these deluges of flowers, but three.
I am almost tempted to shove a few more cuttings in, in the autumn, but then we might disappear like the Sleeping Beauty.
