I'm told that some of the fashionable gardening experts who design the wonderful gardens you see at places like Chelsea and Tatton, get very sniffy about this kind of display. Words like 'vulgar' and 'common' get bandied about. And heaven help you if you put these kind of plants in a hanging basket....

Well I must be very vulgar and common because I love to see all this explosion of colour in a pot display. I must find some of those bi coloured petunias for next summer. This mini garden was outside a shop in Manchester Road in Chorlton but you can find similar in vulgar and common displays near you across the land...
