Follow the Herring

The choir that I am in was asked some time ago to take part in a national touring project that combines theatre and visual arts in an atmospheric and compelling journey down the east coast of Britain.
The play was written by Ann Coburn and is called Get up and Tie your Fingers. Karen Wimhurst composed the songs that we perform along with 5 main actors.
The Guardian wrote '' it is an enormously empowering statement about the possibilities for change in ordinary women's lives''
The play tells the story of the worst fishing disaster that Britain has ever known. In 1881 a storm sent 129 gallant Eyemouth fishermen to a watery grave. The play tells the story of 3 courageous women who were struck by this tragedy.
The play is travelling down the east coast and we were lucky to be chosen to sing in the production. Every night this week we are out practising and we start the real performance this Thursday. We have 4 shows to perform and are currently filled with nerves at the prospect but are at the same time very excited to be involved.
The props and exhibition are amazing and my blip is of a fishing trawler in Grimsby Minster where we will be performing -- and would you believe this trawler is knitted!! And it really is big!
