"My eyes - they burn!"
Hello, it's been a while since I've last managed to write something down here. It's been busy at work and it's taken a lot of time to practice our theatre play "Calendar Girls" by Tim Firth for this summer. You may know or have watched the movie, but we had to adapt the play to Finnish environment so it could reach the local audience better. At any rate, I think we've done it well - we even made the calendar to raise money to cancer research!
After all, I'm playing Marie (or Mari, as we say in our adaption), the Chairwoman of the Knapely WI Group (or Krekilän Kotitalousnaiset in our version). She's a very strict (read: conservative) and pedantic person, who can also be ultimately mean and annoying at times. To me, personally, the mean part is the most difficult part to play, but our director says I'm doing very well of which I'm really pleased. The premiere night took place last Tuesday and by now we're having eight more plays to go.
Everything is going fine and I'm glad to tell you that I'll be leaving to be an au pair in Germany (or Austria; not sure yet) this autumn. I've been thinking about that option for a great while and have now decided to realise it. If everything goes as expected, I'll find myself somewhere in Central Europe in three months. I'm expecting a lot of new experiences, making long-lasting friendships and learning lots of new stuff during the upcoming times and, what most importantly, I'll totally be learning more about the German language.
That's all folks. Take care and stay safe.
