Growing old disgracefully

SHINY THINGS

I am an advertiser's dream come true. In spite of all my belief in living simply, I confess I love shiny new things, especially when they are beautifully made, like these. The VIP and I are collecting wool and aiming to make something beautiful and practical ( his idea, not mine). Latest suggestions are a baby's nappy ( help, where is the baby coming from?) and a pillow for a mouse.

I recall trying to do the same at his age and being frustrated by lack of skill and equipment. Enter the new carders. Aren't they magic? But from NZ? Imagine the air miles. And who knew they would be self assembly? But I love them, and in spite of the lateness of the hour and the fact that we are leaving for the prairies at 05:15 tomorrow and I was up half last night preparing for our sudden trip - I am going to have a go at assembling them. See, they even have a cute little bit of sandpaper in the kit!

And, when the oil runs out and you lot are all shivering, you will flock to us looking for our oily sweaters, so there.
