Cloisters, Orihuela Cathedral
Overnight night rain was persisting when we got up this morning so took a drive about 20 miles inland to the city of Orihuela; the historic centre boasts many fine churches as well as the Cathedral here but the guide book describes it as nestling on the banks of the river and we'd envisaged tree lined avenues so the man made concrete banks lined by graffiti'd buildings were something of a disappointment. At least the weather was soon back to normal.
Back to the house for a swim then up to the local, very English square to watch another low key England World Cup performance: for two hours we forgot we were in Spain with the English named pubs and restaurants and not a Spanish citizen in sight.
Many thanks for all the kind comments on yesterday's effort: lack of internet timer and I won't beagle to thank you all individually.
