Surprise peas

Is anyone old enough to remember Bachelor's Surprise Peas? They were little dried peas that had to be soaked to reconstitute them before cooking. I remember them as being sweet and tasty but were superseded by the frozen variety.

These are surprise peas for a different reason. They were bought as sweet peas at an "open garden" a few weeks ago however they have developed as edible peas. They have stayed short so assume that they are a dwarf variety. The slugs enjoy them as you can see!
