Took S to work today and then headed off into Edinburgh to return one of my business suits to work as it didn't fit. It was somewhat reminiscent of a puffball skirt and no, that is not any reflection on my anatomical arrangement. I must remember to order more next week.
Then off to the material shops, still on the hunt for curtain and soft furnishing fabrics - no joy.
Then on to the Botanical Gardens for a wander. It's the first time I've been since they have opened the new frontage to the park. Wow, what a huge difference, it's far more appealing, tastefully done and housed a lovely exhibition called the Wych Elm Project which displayed lovely elm furniture etc made from the Elm tree that had be cut down in the gardens in 2003 due to Dutch Elm disease. It has been made into a harp which is to remain outdoors and the wind will vibrate the strings making the music!, tables, mirrors, wall hangings jewellery, and boxes.
My favourite was the paper fairy shoes that have been shaped into pointed elfin type footwear reminiscent of a story from Enid Blyton. The heels were made from the tiniest spindliest twigs.
The gardens were fairly quiet so there were plenty of cold icy seats around, unlike in the summer where you would have to turf someone off to get a rest.
This one looked particularly lonely. Like many of the wooden benches around Edinburgh, this one is in memory of someone once loved. This one was dedicated to Mr G and Mrs R Petrie from their family. I don't know who they were, but from the wording on the plaque I presume they were frequent visitors to the Botanics.
We then headed off to North Berwick for a breezy windswept stroll along the west beach. Then home, repaired the windscreen wiper that snapped off and then collected S from work. Tea, pc, blip and now back off to do the ironing!
Have a good weekend blippers
