Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Another day, another pub

Well, toddlers and their voices are not his favourite things. As he was dozing on my knee before being put to bed this morning, Radio 4 was on as usual, and there was a toddler’s voice for some reason. His head shot up and he listened, possibly thinking that there was a SMALL PERSON getting near him and he should be alert.

Today in the Meadows a toddler and her mum stopped to look at the nice puppy. We were quite far away. He barked. More of a squeak, but it’s his bark.

We took the bus down the road a bit (I claim it’s to save his wee legs, but it's really to save mine). He sat on the floor and quietly untied my laces. Good that he had something to amuse himself, but this could have been a problem if I hadn’t noticed. The lady opposite me did.

We then walked through Tolcross and went to Bennets Bar, a dog friendly bar and one of my favourites. He sat (quite) nicely on the floor while I had my crisps and coke with the other old codgers watching the tennis and reading the papers (and Kindles!) I just put him up on the seat for a photo. He’s studying the map under the glass on the table about to lick my glass and be plonked down again.

He then had a huge run around on the grass, running round and round my legs to tie me up. If he wasn’t so daft, I’d think he was doing it on purpose.

Fargo is finished. :-( Really enjoyed that one!
