Aunt Iona

Parkinson's Disease has robed her of clear speech and a steady gate. She is more emotional than I remember her being and her hands shake when she tries to use them to eat or write.
But her mind and spirit are as strong and intact as ever they were. It makes it so frustrating for her. People tend to see her as this frail, 94 year old, confused, invalid and the whole problem is caused by her physically impaired communication skills.
And no matter how hard she tries - nothing works the way it should.

And through all that, as you can see in the picture, she still smiles, she still chooses life.
