They're here!

And so many of them! Copacabana is incredible. Yesterday, it was awash with Argentinos, today the Chilenos have taken over – plus not a few Mexicans, Colombians, Ecuadorians and even Americans and Europeans, but far fewer in number.

We drank strange mixtures of alcohol, herbs and Coca Cola with Argentines, took photos of Chileans, Brazilians, Argentines and assorted vehicles from afar, and strolled along the front with several thousands of others of all nationalities. I tried my hand at slack wire walking and did brilliantly – as I was gallantly supported on both sides by two Argentine lads. Not a sign of thugs and pickpockets – have they been scared off by the Army? It was all delightful – and there was another long conversation with an Italian on the way home, because the gelato place was still open. Well, someone has to support them…..
