Madness and the summer solstice at Avebury

Think I must be a little mad as I got up at 3am today and set off for Avebury to join the revellers for the summer solstice. I crossed Hungerford Common at 3.30 and it was already getting light. As I got nearer to Avebury it was clear that I was not the only mad person out and about! The weather was glorious, warm and dry and the sky was as clear as a bell. The crescent moon shone brightly.
There were lots of people about - partygoers, Druids, campers, cyclists, walkers, children, families, New Age, and a few pensioners!
The dawn was brilliant and everyone had a great time. Very glad I went. Wanted to show one of the magnificent stones to set off the dawn.
