Long day

It was the final qualifying round for the Soledad cup, sponsored by Pirelli, at La Finca Golf. So, it was up early, arrived at the course in plenty of time, practice on the putting green, then off to the 14th Tee which was my starting hole.

There were 144 players competing, so every hole had 2 x 4 balls on it, so it was going to be a long day.

Only the first 3 in each of the 3 categories qualified for the final. I didn`t play well enough, in the ladies section the winner came in with 42 points and she plays off a handicap of 5, 2nd had 39 points and 3rd had 38 points.

It took 6 hours to complete the round, and by the time we had had the presentation and a drink it was 5.30pm when I got home. It was a quick siesta, then shower and change and off out for a meal.

I received a cap and a sleeve of balls, better than nothing. Will try again next year.
