Lake Windermere and Ambleside.
I found it hard to select the photos for this blip as I had taken over 100 today.
After a gorgeous breakfast at The Old England hotel, where the choice of fresh fruit was amazing and the blend of tea, superb, we booked out just as a coach load of tourists were booking in. This is clearly a popular hotel!
We enjoyed a boat ride on Lake Windermere which was incredibly beautiful and fascinating. I could not have been happier being surrounded by trees and hills.
Wordsworth had good reason to express in his poetry the great delight experienced from the sights and sounds of this heavenly location.
We were treated to a genial commentary describing the history of the Lake, and places of interest along the way.
The walk from Ambleside pier, to the centre of the town, was a pleasant stroll in the hot sunshine. We stopped for a coffee and a cold iced drink for me at Esquires, and then we browsed around the shops at a holiday pace.
We travelled back to Bowness on a boat called Miss Cumbria, again taking in the scenic views of the hills and trees in the National Park.
We are home again and visited the grandsons who were playing out and a ginger kitten had adopted them.
The Guinea Pigs weren't so keen when he momentarily looked into their cage.
