Yaffle

That's the thing about green woodpeckers - you wait for one for ages then two come along at once.
I was chasing a much better shot of this guy on a dead tree yesterday but he was quite jumpy. While he was digging up the ant's nests in my lawn today he was much calmer, either preoccupied or doped up. In over half the shots I took he has his eyes shut - don't know if he was reacting to something from the ants?
