Gently down the stream

Wet and not very wilderness

What would the world be, once bereft
Of wet and wildness? Let them be left,
Oh let them be left, wildness and wet;
Long live the weeds and the wilderness yet.

from 'Inversnaid' (Gerard Manley Hopkins)

I had this on the brain, it's quoted in a book I'm currently reading, but to be honest, when I went down to the marshes early this morning I was quite confident the ground would be dry (unlike last winter, when I nearly lost my wellies!). But the dew soaked straight through trainers , socks and joggy bottoms, so silly me..

Anyway, this may be wet and weedy, but I can't pretend it's really wilderness, more ultra-managed fishing territory, but I did have a large fox cross my path and a pair of heron rise up under my feet, so it did feel quite a way from city life.

Glass of wine with lunch. Isn't Sunday a good? Hope your is going well xx
