THIS IS THE WAY.....
…..we pump up our tyres!! Joshua decided he was going out today - thank goodness there is no football on TV this morning - and the bike was his preferred means of transport, but when he got his bike out the tyres were very flat. Grandad and Josh had to play the game of "Hunt the Footpump" but they eventually found it and then Josh had a lesson in how to pump up the tyres.
It is so good when children can learn from grandparents - being one generation removed, and not having the daily responsibility that a parent does, the grandchildren are often quite happy to be told how to do certain things and grandparents can pass on their knowledge. It was good to see them interacting together - it reminded me of all the valuable lessons Mr. HCB taught our two sons - and now he is passing on those lessons to their sons.
Josh has now gone off to play football with his friends and will no doubt be back when he is hungry. They will probably recreate some of the World Cup games - just a shame England is out, but that's life!
I enjoyed quality time yesterday with Charlotte - she is past the stage of staying in her room all day, so that was a bonus for me and hopefully our son and daughter-in-law have had a relaxing and refreshing weekend by the sea, so a win/win situation for all of us.
Mr. HCB is off to cricket next week, so I am a cricket widow but that's OK - I have no doubt I will find plenty to do - the word "bored" does not even appear in my dictionary!
What is it about grandparents that is so lovely?
I'd like to say that grandparents are God's gifts to children.
And if they can but see, hear and feel
what their grandparents have to give,
they can mature at a fast rate.
