I am so proud

Today we attended a fun birthday party at the Underwood Family Farm in Moorpark. I got lots of great pictures of the animals and the kids but have chosen this for my blip.
I am feeling so proud of our daughter. She is 4 years old. She is generally polite, she tries really hard at whatever activity she is doing, she follows the rules when she knows them, she tries to help others.
This last week saw her at summer camp being a big girl helper. She is one of the oldest in the preschool camp which has a lot of little kids who have never even been to preschool before. Her teacher keeps telling me she is being a big girl helper - teaching the little ones the rules and helping then to walk down the steep slope out. Thanks Ms D for sharing that!
Today at the party, she knew what she wanted to do and we just went and did it - sometimes by ourselves, sometimes with friends from the party. We just had gentle fun together. At the time of the piñata, she waited for it to break and then ran forward but kneeled down and took her time sorting out what interested her most instead of just filling up her bag as fast as possible.
Our girl, our bright girl, wanted desperately to know why the girl peacock (peahen) didn't get bright feathers like the boy. I explained that the boy had bright feathers to make the girl like him. She wasn't terribly impressed by that answer!
Proud as a peacock - or a peahen! Loving my big girl who has really started to understand and remember so many more things recently. Love that brain development.
And thanks of course to L for turning 5 and her family K and A for having us to her wonderful party!
Thanks to S and her family for the lunch afterwards and the mutual admiration of our growing girls!
