Feel the fear, but do it anyway!

We went over to Kirkby Lonsdale today, as my niece was holding an exhibition of her third year art work at The Rectory. She is doing a 4yr Fine Arts degree at Glasgow, and was fortunate not to lose any of her work in the recent fire. Her exhibition was entitled "Readers", and portrayed her interest in portrait and sitting figures. She is a gifted artis, working in oils and also screen prints, who can capture the essence of a person and we thoroughly enjoyed looking at her work - in fact, we bought one of her self-portraits (although the large one we really wanted was not for sale as my brother had bagged it!). She doesn't really like any of her self-portraits and is surprised that anyone is buying them!

Two young fledgling blackbirds were trying out their wings between a wall and tree just where we parked the car, and had no fear of us at all. Their trial flights were short, and sometimes a little close to us and the car, but they managed to avoid collision with increasing skill.

They obviously felt the fear, but did it anyway - as did my niece by showing her work in public.
