Blue centres.

I thought the blue centres to these flowers were quite unusual.

It was C1s birthday today, so we caught the bus out to Slateford and walked back into town along the canal tow path. Last weekend I cycled along the tow path with A, and it was slow going because of the pedestrians, dog walkers and children. Today I kept having to jump out of the way of cyclists whizzing along without consideration. One woman on a road bike made it quite clear that she intended to get to where she was going at proper cycling speed and kept yelling 'watch out' at people. As she passed me I told her she was going too fast. She completely ignored me. I suspect she will come a cropper, and probably take someone with her.

Back in town at the canal basin we came across a small festival with stalls from the local community selling food and crafts. Bouncy castles and face painting kept the kids occupied and there was music and a lovely atmosphere.

To round things off C1 and I went to the City Arts Centre for a last look at the View of Edinburgh show. I thoroughly enjoyed it but the building was far too hot and I was glad to get out into the fresh air.

This evening I think I will sit down with a good book.
