House Martins

Every year we get lodgers, not of the human kind either!!!

House martins have built a nest in one of the peaks of my house. Every year we have them coming back. When their not using it other birds move in.

They are great to watch and its funny seeing their heads popping out the nest and tweeting away when we walk past. I always say they are telling us to be quiet!

I was cutting the grass and noticed tiny pieces of shell on the ground. They were so tiny and delicate. I think there must of been about 2 or maybe 3 eggs that were in the nest.

This is a close up of one of the pieces. You can see how small the eggs must of been compared to the stones in my garden.
