Honor. Remember. Explore.

A sombre morning in the rain at the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.

The first military burial took place here in May 1864 and there are now some 400,000 active duty service members, veterans and their families buried here.

President John F Kennedy and family graves are here, as is the tomb of the unknown soldier.

A quiet, poignant, atmospheric memorial in the early morning. Get out before the bus tours arrive!
